And Any Other ADULT Who Needs Help Growing Up
Please be advised it is not public school’s, the government’s, the tax payer’s job to teach you this really easy basic shit. By the time you get out into the world and don’t know how to do the basics, not only should you be embarrassed, you should keep this super embarrassing fact under wraps!
Adulting has become a hashtag sensation. Congratulations! Pride for being ignorant is officially a thing!
At first, it was funny.
Reading about the struggles and entertaining mishaps young adults were encountering on a regular basis because who knew attempting to boil water could cause such comical destruction? And the fact that not only are all of your formerly white shirts a dingy gray (or better yet, pink), they look like they’ve been living in one of your couch cushions. Let’s not talk about how they smell.
But now that society has been flooded with an entire generation of what appears to be nitwits, reality is setting in that something has gone horribly wrong in the standard parenting protocol.
NECESSITIES TO LIVE:
Cooking —> using a microwave, stove, grill.. breakfast, lunch, dinner …
NECESSITIES TO NOT BE A SLOB:
Cleaning —> vacuuming, dusting, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, DISHES …
NECESSITIES TO PRESENT AS CIVILIZED:
Laundry —> separate, wash, dry, fold, hang, put away …
These are all things you should know how to do.
It’s Not Your Fault …
…that your parents didn’t teach you the basics. But now that you are all grown up, it IS your fault if you’re helping let this status define your entire generation.
PLEASE, for the love of all things rational, learn how to feed yourself, clean up after yourself, and wash your clothes!
Dear Generation X
Make fun of the “snowflakes” all day long. But, they are yours. You made this mess. If you are still doing stuff FOR your adult child, can you not teach them HOW to do it?
PLEASE FIX THIS
Not knowing how to do the basics is not cute or adorable and it is cause for panic! Here’s the good news…
It is YOUR PARENTS FAULT YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO DO ANYTHING.
Now go learn from them.
